Challenge
Planet Overstock is a brick and mortar store that relies on high volume to move merchandise fast at great low prices. Expanding their business onto the web was something of great importance to them. Building a strategy to reach a larger audience and keep their clients informed on when new inventory hits their shelves is vital to keep their profit lines up. Additionally Planet needed help understanding how their business model could fit into the E-Commerce space.
Strategy
To build the strategy for Planet Overstock we decided to break their site into two main goals. The first goal being to build a funnel to gather their customers' contact information to inform them immediately when new inventory hit the store shelves. Along with these updates the client added coupons to these alerts as a form of customer loyalty program. The second goal of their site is to start driving E-Commerce sales through their own online storefront. This storefront is managed by the client and currently supports just Gift Cards. However, they are actively working on creating "mystery boxes" that they will add to their storefront at a later date.
Approach
The site was delivered in an iterative fashion to hit the ground running. For the first release we delivered a standard package (4 pages for this customer) in just under 48 hours. This allowed them to immediately start utilizing and marketing their site through their active customer funnels on Facebook. Following that Chrome Dome Web Designs built their storefront and admin view to allow them to sell their gift cards and redeem them in store via their POS system. Finally we worked to deliver a communication method for informing users via a pop up of the "text alerts and loyalty program" offered by Planet.

Following the release of their website Planet Overstock has seen tremendous growth in their customer base, loyalty program, and gift card sales. Their loyalty program subscribers have reached nearly 5,000 in just 2 short months following their website release. This has been an absolute home run for their organic growth via the website.
Additionally their e-commerce platform continues to grow through their Gift Cards sales currently. They are able to sell Gift Cards via QR Code in store and by direct to customers that visit their site. They are able to process the Gift Cards in store without any additional hardware. They are actively working to expand their E-Commerce offerings.
